French Onion Beef Noodles (Print Format)

Hearty one-pot meal with tender beef, egg noodles and French onion flavor. Creamy comfort food ready in just 35 minutes.

# Ingredients:

→ Beef and Seasonings

01 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
02 - 1 pound beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized chunks
03 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
04 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

→ Broth and Noodles

06 - 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
07 - 3 cups good quality beef broth
08 - 12 oz egg noodles, any wide variety

→ Creamy Finish

09 - 1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
10 - 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
11 - 1 cup French fried onions for that perfect crunch on top

# Steps:

01 - Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
02 - Add the beef stew meat and season generously with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Sear for 3-5 minutes, turning to brown all sides and get that nice caramelized color.
03 - Pour in the French onion soup and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Bring everything to a gentle simmer and let the beef cook for 10 minutes to start getting tender.
04 - Add the egg noodles right to the pot and continue simmering for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender and have absorbed some of that delicious broth.
05 - Remove the pot from heat and stir in the sour cream and Parmesan cheese until everything is smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
06 - Sprinkle those crispy French fried onions generously over the top and serve immediately while it's hot and comforting.

# Tips:

01 - Make sure your sour cream is at room temperature before stirring it in to prevent it from curdling in the hot mixture.
02 - Don't skip the searing step - those browned bits add so much flavor to the overall dish.
03 - If the mixture seems too thick, add a splash more beef broth. If it's too thin, let it simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
04 - This is pure comfort food - perfect for cold days when you want something hearty and satisfying.
05 - Leftovers reheat well, but you might need to add a little extra broth since the noodles continue to absorb liquid.
