French Onion Chicken and Rice (Print Format)

Cheesy chicken, white rice, and sweet onions baked for a comforting, golden-topped Southern-inspired dish.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 1/2 cups white rice
02 - 1 (10.5 oz) can French onion soup
03 - 1 1/2 canfuls of water (use the soup can)
04 - 1/4 cup butter, sliced
05 - 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast, cubed
06 - 1 1/2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
07 - 1 (1 oz) packet dry onion soup mix
08 - 1 cup French fried onions

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour rice into a 13×9-inch baking dish. Stir in French onion soup, water, and cubed chicken. Top with dry onion soup mix.
02 - Add shredded Gruyere cheese on top of the casserole and cover with foil. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and rice is tender.
03 - Remove casserole from oven. Sprinkle French fried onions over the top and return to the oven for 5 minutes until crispy.
