Pizza Burgers with Pepperoni (Print Format)

Grilled beef burgers loaded with pizza sauce, melted mozzarella and crispy pepperoni. Best of both worlds in 35 minutes.

# Ingredients:

→ Seasoned Burger Patties

01 - 1 pound ground beef, 80% lean and 20% fat for the best flavor
02 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
03 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Pizza Toppings and Assembly

06 - 4 hamburger buns, split in half
07 - 1/2 cup good quality pizza sauce
08 - 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
09 - 16 to 24 slices pepperoni, depending on how loaded you want them

# Steps:

01 - In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 4 equal patties and let them rest while you prep everything else.
02 - Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat and turn on the broiler. Split the buns and place them cut-side up on a baking sheet, then toast under the broiler until golden. Set the top halves aside for later.
03 - Grill the seasoned beef patties for 4-5 minutes per side until they're cooked through and have nice grill marks.
04 - While the burgers cook, warm the pizza sauce in a small pan over low heat. Spread half the sauce on the toasted bottom buns, sprinkle with half the mozzarella, and add half the pepperoni. Broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
05 - Place each cooked burger patty on the prepared bottom buns. Top with the remaining sauce, cheese, and pepperoni, then broil again until the cheese is bubbling and the pepperoni edges are crispy.
06 - Top with the remaining bun halves and serve immediately while everything is hot and melty.

# Tips:

01 - Letting the patties rest after forming helps them hold together better and cook more evenly.
02 - Use 80/20 ground beef for the perfect balance of flavor and juiciness - leaner beef can make dry burgers.
03 - Toast those buns well so they don't get soggy from all the delicious pizza sauce and melted cheese.
04 - Keep a close eye on the broiler - cheese can go from perfectly melted to burnt pretty quickly.
05 - These are messy in the best way possible, so have plenty of napkins ready!
