→ Rice and Base

04 - 4 cups cooked rice
05 - 2 cups chicken broth
06 - 1½ cups mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
07 - 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
08 - ¼ cup all-purpose flour
09 - 3 teaspoons minced garlic

→ Cajun Spice Blend

10 - 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
11 - 1 tablespoon oregano
12 - 1 teaspoon thyme
13 - 1 tablespoon garlic powder
14 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
15 - 1 teaspoon chili powder
16 - ½ teaspoon black pepper (or more to taste)
17 - ½ teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
18 - Pinch of cayenne pepper

# Steps:

01 - Season your shrimp with seafood seasoning, making sure each one is nicely coated. This is going to give them that perfect Louisiana flavor!
02 - Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they curl into that perfect 'C' shape and turn pink. Remove and set aside - they're going to finish cooking later with all those amazing flavors!
03 - In a large skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add your ground beef and pork sausage, cooking until they start to brown and smell incredible. This is building your flavor foundation!
04 - Toss in those chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic with the browning meat. Keep cooking until the meat is fully browned and the vegetables are tender and fragrant - this is classic Cajun cooking at its finest!
05 - Stir in all those wonderful seasonings - oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, salt, and just a pinch of cayenne. Your kitchen is going to smell absolutely amazing!
06 - Sprinkle the flour over everything and stir it in well. Gradually add the chicken broth, stirring constantly, and bring to a simmer for 5-7 minutes. This creates that rich, thick base that makes dirty rice so special!
07 - Stir in your cooked rice and let it simmer for another 5 minutes, absorbing all those incredible flavors. The rice should be getting that beautiful 'dirty' color from all the spices and meat!
08 - Return those gorgeous shrimp to the skillet and gently fold them into the rice mixture. Cook just until everything is heated through and the shrimp are warmed. Serve immediately and get ready for some serious comfort food bliss!

# Tips:

01 - This is authentic Louisiana comfort food at its finest - hearty, spicy, and absolutely soul-satisfying! The combination of three proteins with all those Cajun spices creates incredible depth of flavor.
02 - The 'dirty' in dirty rice comes from the way the meat and spices color the rice, giving it that characteristic appearance. It's rustic, homestyle cooking that's pure comfort!
03 - Don't skip the roux step with the flour and broth - it's what gives the dish its rich, thick consistency that holds everything together perfectly.
