Copycat Arby's Beef Cheddar (Print Format)

Tender roast beef with cheddar sauce and tangy dressing piled high on a soft onion bun for sandwich lovers.

# Ingredients:

→ Arby's sauce

01 - ½ cup ketchup
02 - 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
03 - 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
04 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
05 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
06 - ½ teaspoon onion powder

→ Cheese sauce

07 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
08 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
09 - 1 cup whole milk
10 - 6 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese

→ Sandwich assembly

11 - 2 cups low sodium beef broth
12 - 1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef
13 - 4 onion hamburger buns

# Steps:

01 - In a small mixing bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set aside.
02 - Over medium heat, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute while stirring. Gradually add milk while whisking, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Heat for 5 minutes before removing from heat and stirring in shredded cheese until fully melted.
03 - In a large skillet over medium heat, bring beef broth to a simmer for 5 minutes. Separate roast beef slices and add them individually into the broth to prevent sticking. Warm the beef for 1-2 minutes and remove.
04 - Spread prepared Arby's sauce on the bottom half of an onion hamburger bun. Top with warm roast beef, followed by cheese sauce. Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.

# Tips:

01 - If cheese sauce cools and needs reheating, it may break but will remain flavorful.
02 - Opt for onion buns to mirror the original recipe, but any preferred bun can be used.
03 - Double the recipe to serve larger groups.
04 - Pair with curly fries, mozzarella sticks, or jalapeño poppers for a classic Arby’s-inspired meal.
