01 -
Cut 1/2 pound of bacon into 1-inch pieces and reserve the remaining bacon. Saute diced bacon and onions in a skillet until bacon is cooked and onions are softened. Remove all but about 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings from the skillet. Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute. Stir in brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and salt. Boil the mixture, stirring, until it reaches a jam-like consistency. Transfer to a jar and set aside.
02 -
Spread the reserved bacon slices on a sheet pan lined with foil. Place in a cold oven, set to 400°F, and bake until crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Form the ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and black pepper. Cook the patties using your preferred method (grill, pan-fry, or bake) until desired doneness is reached. Place cheese slices on patties about 1 minute before removing them from heat to allow melting.
03 -
To assemble, layer the bottom bun with a burger patty topped with melted cheese, bacon jam, crispy bacon slices, and then the top bun. Serve immediately and enjoy.
