Bourbon Chicken Dinner (Print Format)

Sweet bourbon chicken with tangy flavors made effortlessly in a slow cooker. A takeout favorite featuring bourbon, soy sauce, and brown sugar.

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 pounds of chicken thighs, boneless and without skin.
02 - 1 cup of soy sauce.
03 - 1 cup of packed brown sugar.
04 - 1/3 cup of bourbon.
05 - 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
06 - Half a teaspoon ground ginger.
07 - 1 tablespoon of honey.
08 - 4 garlic cloves.
09 - A quarter teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
10 - 3 tablespoons of cornstarch.
11 - 2 tablespoons of water.
12 - A small handful of chopped green onions (about 1/4 cup).

# Steps:

01 - Trim the chicken thighs, then lay them in the slow cooker.
02 - Combine garlic, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, bourbon, ginger, brown sugar, and chili flakes in a bowl. Whisk well.
03 - Pour the sauce over the chicken in the cooker. Use the high setting for 4 hours or low for about 6.
04 - Take the chicken out and slice it into rough chunks.
05 - Whisk cornstarch and water in a bowl. Stir the mixture into the sauce in the slow cooker.
06 - Toss the chopped chicken back into the sauce. Let it cook until the sauce bubbles up.
07 - Sprinkle green onions on top before serving. Goes great over rice.

# Tips:

01 - Swap bourbon with apple juice if you'd like.
02 - You can use cubed chicken breast instead.
03 - Adding sesame seeds makes for a nice garnish.
