Braised Cabbage Sesame (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cabbage

01 - 2 tbsp water for steaming
02 - 1 tsp black pepper
03 - 1/4 tsp fine salt
04 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter
05 - 1 tbsp cooking avocado oil
06 - 1 whole cabbage head, cut into quarters

→ Sesame Sauce

07 - 2 tbsp plain water
08 - 1 tbsp sambal or spicy chili oil (optional)
09 - 1 stalk of chopped green onion
10 - 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
11 - 1 tbsp natural honey
12 - 1 tbsp light soy sauce (low-sodium)
13 - 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
14 - 2 tbsp oyster seasoning sauce

# Instructions:

01 - Heat some avocado oil in a cast iron skillet with a lid. Keep the heat medium-high.
02 - Toss in cabbage and cook until the sides turn crispy. Add butter, a pinch of salt, and some pepper while frying.
03 - When it's crispy on all sides, pour in water to steam it. Cover with the lid and lower the heat for a 5-minute simmer.
04 - Mix all the sesame sauce ingredients in a bowl thoroughly.
05 - Test the cabbage by poking the center with a knife to make sure it's soft. Cook longer if needed. Once the steam water is gone, pour over the sauce and stir until it's soaked in.

# Notes:

01 - You can prepare this at 350°F in an air fryer for around 20 minutes.
02 - Don’t remove the core so the cabbage stays intact while cooking.
03 - Skip the chili oil or sambal if you want a less spicy version.
