Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Be sure to use medium heat so the insides of the quesadilla melt before the outside burns.

Place one tortilla in the skillet. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the tortilla, add crumbled bacon, and drizzle with ranch dressing. Top with the second tortilla.

Cook until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the quesadilla and repeat on the other side, which usually takes about 5 minutes in total.

Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and transfer to a cutting board. Let rest for one minute, then cut into wedges. Serve with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. Optionally, dip in extra ranch dressing.
