Crispy Crab Cream Wontons (Print Format)

Crunchy wontons encasing rich crab and cream cheese blend, fried golden for irresistible flavor and texture.

# Ingredients:

→ Filling

01 - 8 oz softened full-fat cream cheese
02 - 6 oz fresh or imitation crab meat
03 - 2 tbsp finely chopped green onions
04 - 1 tsp garlic powder
05 - 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
06 - 1/2 tsp soy sauce

→ Wrapper and Oil

07 - 1 pack wonton wrappers (20-25 pieces)
08 - Water for sealing wonton edges
09 - Vegetable or peanut oil for frying

→ Garnish (optional)

10 - Chopped chives or cilantro

# Steps:

01 - In a medium bowl, gently combine softened cream cheese with crab meat. Fold in green onions, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce until evenly incorporated, preserving some crab texture.
02 - Lay wonton wrappers flat on a clean surface. Spoon approximately 1 teaspoon of filling into the center of each wrapper.
03 - Moisten the edges of each wrapper with water. Fold diagonally to form a triangle or bring all four corners to the center and pinch to create a pouch. Press edges firmly to seal without trapping air.
04 - Pour oil to a depth of at least 2 inches in a deep pot or fryer. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) using a thermometer to maintain accuracy.
05 - Fry 4 to 5 wontons at a time in hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Use a slotted spoon to turn midway for even frying. Maintain oil temperature between batches.
06 - Remove wontons from oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped chives or cilantro if desired, alongside preferred dipping sauces.

# Tips:

01 - Ensure oil temperature remains steady at 350°F to achieve optimal crispiness and prevent sogginess.
02 - Wontons can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerated or frozen for later frying.
03 - For a lighter alternative, bake filled wontons at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes until crisp.
