Turn on your oven and set it to 350°F (175°C).

On medium-high heat, crumble the ground beef in a large pan. Cook for 5–7 minutes until it’s browned, then drain the extra grease and set aside.

Stir together the condensed mushroom soup, milk, onion, salt, and black pepper in a medium-sized bowl.

Place alternating layers of the potato slices, ground beef, and soup mix in a 2-quart casserole dish.

Pop the dish into the preheated oven and bake for about 60–90 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft.

Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top and bake for a few more minutes, just until it’s melted and bubbly.
