Set your oven to 350°F and let it heat up. Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment, leaving a bit extra on the edges to pull the bars out later.

Blend sugar, flour, and butter until it's crumbly. Press the mixture firmly into the base of the pan. Bake it for about 15-18 minutes, or until you see golden edges.

Heat up butter, corn syrup, and sugar until it boils. Leave it to cool slightly. Beat eggs, salt, and vanilla on the side. Gradually mix both together, then stir in the nuts.

Spread the nutty mixture evenly on the baked crust. Pop it into the oven for another 25-30 minutes, or until the filling sets and turns a nice golden color.

Let the pan cool fully. Use the parchment to lift the slab out. Slice into squares and, if you want, drizzle some caramel on top.
