Green Heart Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter.
02 - ⅔ cup regular sugar, plus a bit extra for coating.
03 - Two large yolks from eggs.
04 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring.
05 - A few drops (3-5) of green gel coloring.
06 - 1 and 1/4 cups plain white flour.
07 - 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
08 - A pinch (1/4 teaspoon) of fine salt.
09 - 12 small red heart-shaped candies.

# Instructions:

01 - Set oven to 350°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
02 - Melt the butter, then mix in sugar, yolks, vanilla, and green dye until smooth.
03 - Blend in the flour, baking soda, and salt until dough comes together.
04 - Roll dough into 12 balls, coat in sugar, and place on the parchment-lined tray.
05 - Bake for about 10-11 minutes until cracked and spread. Push hearts on top before cooling.
06 - Rest on the tray for a couple of minutes, then move to a wire rack to finish cooling.

# Notes:

01 - For bold color, use gel instead of liquid food dye.
02 - Dough or finished cookies can be frozen to save for later.
03 - Press sprinkles into cookies while they're hot.
