01 - 1 pound hot Italian sausage
02 - 1 pound ground beef
03 - 1 yellow onion, diced
04 - 1 jalapeno, stem and seeds removed, diced
05 - 4 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1 tablespoon butter
07 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
08 - 1 teaspoon dried basil
09 - 1 teaspoon black pepper
10 - 15 ounces tomato sauce
11 - 6 ounces tomato paste
12 - 14.5 ounces petite diced tomatoes
13 - 4 ounces diced green chiles
14 - 4 cups beef broth
15 - 16 ounces rotini pasta
16 - 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

# Steps:

01 - In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, melt the butter and brown the sausage links on all sides.
02 - Remove the sausage from the pan and slice it into ½-inch thick pieces, then return the slices to the pan.
03 - Add ground beef, onions, and jalapenos to the pan. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions and peppers are softened. Drain the grease and return everything to the pan.
04 - Sprinkle oregano, basil, and black pepper into the meat mixture and stir well.
05 - Pour in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
