Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers (Print Format)

Juicy beef or turkey patties baked on cabbage rounds and topped with melty cheese for a satisfying, low-carb dish.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 small head of cabbage, cut into thick slices (approximately ½ inch)
02 - 1 ½ lbs ground beef or turkey
03 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
04 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 tsp salt
06 - ½ tsp black pepper
07 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
08 - 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
09 - ½ cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
10 - 2 tbsp olive oil
11 - 1 egg (optional, for binding)

# Steps:

01 - Set the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even cooking.
02 - Slice the small head of cabbage into ½ inch thick rounds. Brush both sides with olive oil and place them on a lined baking sheet.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat with onion, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Add the egg if using to help with binding. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
04 - Shape the meat mixture into patties and place each patty on top of a cabbage slice. Press gently to ensure even coverage.
05 - Bake the cabbage burgers in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, allowing the meat to cook through and the cabbage slices to soften while maintaining their shape.
06 - Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the burgers. Switch the oven to broil and return the burgers for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
07 - Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve with your choice of dipping sauce, such as sour cream or mustard.

# Tips:

01 - Chilling cabbage in the fridge for 30 minutes makes slicing easier.
02 - Using an egg is recommended when working with ground turkey to improve binding.
