Preheat oven to 400°F for toasting the buns.

Dump the ground beef into a large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and diced peppers to the pan and stir well. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.

Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.

Add the water, brown gravy mix, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir well and leave to simmer and thicken for 3 minutes.

Stir well again and reduce the heat to low.

Place the buns in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the buns for 4-5 minutes.

Remove the sloppy joe pan from the heat and add the shredded cheese to the pan. Stir just until the cheese is melted.

Scoop the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted buns. Serve and enjoy!
