Saltine Chocolate Toffee (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup chopped almonds or festive sprinkles.
02 - 40 crackers (use saltines).
03 - A cup of butter.
04 - Spray for cooking.
05 - A packed cup of brown sugar.
06 - 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips (look for Guittard or Ghirardelli brands).

# Instructions:

01 - Line your baking tray with a sheet of foil and lightly spray it, or grab a silicone mat if you've got one.
02 - Preheat your oven to 400°F.
03 - Arrange the crackers neatly on the lined tray so they cover it in one layer.
04 - Combine the butter and brown sugar in a pot. Turn up the heat and let it come to a boil, then boil for 3 minutes straight.
05 - Drizzle the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and smooth it out so every piece gets covered.
06 - Pop the tray in the oven for 3-5 minutes until the toffee bubbles.
07 - Take the tray out and scatter the chocolate chips over the top. Put it back in the oven for another 2-3 minutes, just enough to melt the chocolate, then spread it around evenly.
08 - Scatter sprinkles or almonds over the gooey chocolate before it sets. Let the tray cool all the way—on the counter or in the fridge—then break it into chunks.

# Notes:

01 - You can make this up to 5 days in advance.
02 - Skip Nestle chocolate chips since they don't melt smoothly.
03 - A small offset spatula works great for spreading chocolate.
