Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, reserving about 1 tablespoon bacon grease in the skillet.

Add butter to the skillet with the reserved bacon grease; melt over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.

Add diced sweet potatoes; toss to coat in glaze. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until yams are tender and caramelized.

Stir in crispy bacon and pecans; cook for 2–3 minutes to warm through.
