02 - 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
03 - 1 large egg
04 - 1/4 cup finely diced onion
05 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
07 - 1 tsp salt
08 - 1/2 tsp black pepper

→ Toppings and Sauce

09 - 1 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
10 - 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
11 - 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
12 - 4 hoagie or sub rolls
13 - Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until just combined without overworking.
03 - Shape mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and arrange on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-18 minutes until fully cooked.
04 - While meatballs bake, heat bourbon BBQ sauce in a skillet over low heat.
05 - Transfer cooked meatballs to the skillet and gently toss them in the warmed sauce to coat evenly.
06 - Place 4-5 sauced meatballs into each hoagie roll, then top with shredded cheddar and chopped crispy bacon.
07 - Arrange assembled subs on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
08 - Optionally garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately while hot.

# Tips:

01 - Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest meatballs. Toast rolls before assembling for added texture. Bacon can be cooked ahead and kept crispy using paper towels. Add smoked paprika to the meat mixture for extra depth of flavor. These subs reheat well for next-day meals.
