In a skillet, add ground beef and thinly sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

Add the cooked beef and onions to the slow cooker. Stir in oatmeal, beef broth, beefy onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours.

15-20 minutes before serving, place provolone cheese slices on top of the mixture in the slow cooker. Cover and let the cheese melt.

Serve the mixture on buns such as brioche or slider rolls.
