Sweet Jam Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - ⅓ cup regular sugar for coating.
02 - 1¼ cups plain flour.
03 - ⅛ teaspoon of almond flavor.
04 - ¼ teaspoon fine salt.
05 - 1 large egg yolk.
06 - 1 stick room-temp unsalted butter.
07 - 1 cup of powdered sugar.
08 - 1 tablespoon milk or water, your choice.
09 - ½ cup of your favorite fruit spread.
10 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla.
11 - ⅓ cup powdered sugar, not sifted.

# Instructions:

01 - Set oven to heat up to 325°F.
02 - Beat butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
03 - Stir in almond extract, vanilla, egg yolk, and salt.
04 - Fold in the flour just until it comes together.
05 - Scoop dough portions, about a tablespoon each.
06 - Coat in white sugar, then shape them with your hands.
07 - Lay them out on a lined baking tray.
08 - Press down gently with your finger or something like a spoon handle.
09 - Spoon in jam to fill the indentations.
10 - Gently tap the tray to help the jam spread evenly.
11 - Bake about 15 minutes or till slightly golden.
12 - Rest cookies on the tray for 5 minutes.
13 - Move cookies to a wire rack to cool fully.
14 - Combine icing sugar with water or milk until smooth.
15 - Drizzle icing over cookies in a zigzag pattern.

# Notes:

01 - For chunkier cookies, use less jam. For flatter ones, go heavy on the jam.
02 - Keep the dough warm; don’t pop it in the fridge.
03 - Swap milk with water for icing, if you’d prefer.
