Easy Asian Sauce (Print Format)

This fast and fresh sweet-sour sauce highlights pineapple juice and simple pantry items. It’s a game-changer for your meals.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/3 cup of rice vinegar.
02 - 2 tablespoons of tamari or soy sauce.
03 - 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch, for thickening.
04 - 1 cup of pineapple juice from a can.
05 - 3/4 cup of light brown sugar, or a substitute.
06 - 3 tablespoons of ketchup.
07 - 2 tablespoons of water, to make the slurry.
08 - Optional: A few drops of natural red food color.
09 - Cornstarch Slurry (to thicken the sauce).

# Steps:

01 - Dump all ingredients into a small pot, leaving out the cornstarch mixture. Heat it till it bubbles.
02 - Pour in the cornstarch slurry and cook for about a minute. Toss in the food dye if you'd like.
03 - Let it reach room temp, transfer to a sealed container, then stash it in the fridge.

# Tips:

01 - Stick to juice from a can, not fresh pineapple.
02 - It lasts in the fridge for 2–3 weeks.
03 - Swap regular sugar with alternatives if needed.
