Tennessee Onions Cheesy Bake (Print Format)

Sweet onions and three cheeses bake into a golden, creamy Southern-style side that’s irresistibly satisfying.

# Ingredients:

→ Cheeses

01 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
02 - 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
03 - ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

→ Vegetables

04 - 3–4 large sweet onions (Vidalia preferred)

→ Seasonings and Garnish

05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - ½ teaspoon salt
07 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
08 - ½ teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
09 - Chopped parsley, optional, for garnish

→ Other

10 - 4 tablespoons butter, melted

# Steps:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
02 - Peel the onions and slice them into ¼-inch-thick rounds. Gently separate them, keeping the rings mostly intact.
03 - Grease a baking dish and layer the onion slices evenly across the bottom.
04 - In a bowl, combine the cheddar, mozzarella (or Monterey Jack), and Parmesan cheeses.
05 - Sprinkle the cheese mixture generously over the onions.
06 - Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top.
07 - Season with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and dried herbs.
08 - Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
09 - Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown on top.
10 - Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

# Tips:

01 - This dish reheats well and can taste even better the next day.
02 - Sweet onions work best; avoid sharp yellow onions if possible.
03 - Let the dish rest briefly so the cheese sets before serving.
