Juicy chicken with melty cheese, onions, and mushrooms brings cozy Southern flavors to your dinner table.

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1 teaspoon paprika
05 - Salt and pepper to taste
06 - 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
07 - 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
08 - 4 slices provolone cheese or mozzarella
09 - 2 tablespoons butter
10 - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
11 - 1.5 cups chicken broth

# Steps:

01 - Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken on each side for about 4–5 minutes until golden brown without fully cooking.
02 - Melt butter in the same skillet. Add sliced onions and mushrooms. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized for about 8–10 minutes.
03 - Sprinkle flour over the onions and mushrooms. Stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute, then slowly pour in chicken broth while whisking constantly until a smooth gravy forms. Simmer until thickened.
04 - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange seared chicken breasts in a baking dish. Spoon the onion-mushroom mixture over the chicken. Place a slice of cheese on top of each chicken breast. Pour gravy over everything. Cover with foil and bake for 20–25 minutes, until chicken is cooked and cheese is melted.
