Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and green bell pepper along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the vegetables soften.
02 -
Add ground beef to the skillet and break it into small pieces while browning. Drain excess fat if necessary.
03 -
Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Combine thoroughly and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
04 -
Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Place Texas toast on a baking tray and bake for 6–8 minutes until lightly toasted. Use the back of a spoon to create an indent in the center of each slice.
05 -
Fill the center of each Texas toast slice with the sloppy Joe mixture and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
06 -
Place the assembled toast back in the oven and bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Let cool slightly and garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
