Texas toast meets seasoned ground beef and cheese for a quick, satisfying family favorite.

# Ingredients:

01 - 8 slices Texas toast
02 - 1 pound ground beef
03 - 1 small red onion, diced
04 - 1/2 small green bell pepper, diced
05 - 2 tablespoons tomato paste
06 - 1/4 cup tomato sauce
07 - 2 tablespoons ketchup
08 - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
09 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
10 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
11 - Salt, to taste
12 - Black pepper, to taste
13 - 1 tablespoon garlic powder

# Steps:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and green bell pepper along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the vegetables soften.
02 - Add ground beef to the skillet and break it into small pieces while browning. Drain excess fat if necessary.
03 - Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Combine thoroughly and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
04 - Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Place Texas toast on a baking tray and bake for 6–8 minutes until lightly toasted. Use the back of a spoon to create an indent in the center of each slice.
05 - Fill the center of each Texas toast slice with the sloppy Joe mixture and top with shredded cheddar cheese.
06 - Place the assembled toast back in the oven and bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Let cool slightly and garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
