In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add the sliced carrots and cook for about 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.

In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, pepper, and optional spices if using.

Add the carrots back to the pan and stir to coat. Cook for another 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly and carrots are glossy.

Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy immediately.
