In this version, the caption says “I see 10.” Ten large cats are easy to count, but the artwork also contains four small cat-face motifs. Counting every visible face gives fourteen, rather than treating the caption’s number as an answer key.
Count the ten large cats first
There is one large cat at the top, two below it, then three across the middle. In the lower cluster, count the central cat, the lower-left cat, the lower-right cat and the small cat at the very front. That makes ten main figures.
Find the four smaller faces
Look for one tiny face on the right side of the top cat’s lower cheek or chest, two stacked tiny faces along the left edge beside the middle-left cat, and one at the lower-right edge near the grass. These are easy to miss because they blend into the fur and outlines.
Why totals differ
If the rule is “count the main full cat figures,” ten is reasonable. If the rule includes the small embedded faces, the visible total is fourteen. Say what you counted. The puzzle is not a test of intelligence, eyesight or honesty.
